Geography receives big honors in ’08-09

Faculty, staff and students in the Department of Geography received a number of extramural honors this year including:

  • Associate Professor Mark Harrower, The Henry Johns Award for 2008 (British Cartographic Society)
  • State Cartographer Ted Koch, Lifetime Service Award at the 2008 National States Geographic Information Council meeting
  • The State Cartographer’s Office, 2009 Wisconsin Land Information Association Outstanding Contribution Award
  • Students Leif Brottem and Chris Limburg (Fulbright Scholarships), Daniel Huffman and Ben Coakley (first and second prizes of the National Geographic Society Award in Mapping), Sarah Bell Ferrare, Bert Spaan, Adam Hill, and Andreas Stueve (First Prize, Interactive Maps, North American Cartographic and Information Society meeting).
